2010-2011 Season
Will present more questions than answers.
Mike Tomlin-This will be a defining season for him, do the Steelers return to their championship form. Or do they continue to be just third best in the Afc North? Not at all am I saying a change should be made but if they have a second mediocre season the question will need to be asked.
The Defense-Looks as if a major overhaul is upon us. From the line to the secondary, possibly even coaching as I expect the mad scientist to call it a career. That will be a real challenge for this team as Lebeau's stamp has been visible even during the brief stints he was not in Pittsburgh.
Does Kevin Colbert get a deserved contract extension? He had better he is in the top five as far as drafting, acquiring the right free agents, and extending the right players. Remember at some point Cowher will return and will Kevin leave?

Playoff hopes slim but possible they best they can do is the sixth seed. "IF" they win out and Denver losses to Philly giving them seven losses. They are ahead of the titans due to head to head, and would also be ahead of the broncos. They would head to Cincy as it stands now and would face them a third time question is can they beat them this time. With the defense playing like individuals i dont see it.

Free Agents In The Steelers Range
FB Leonard Weaver-If the Steelers switch offensive coordinators or philosiphy he will be high atop the wish list.
RB Jerious Norwood-Scatback in the Willie Parker mold, but has a shorter stride then parker so he reaches top speed quicker. Good kick returner, has taken a few touchdowns to the house.
OL Marshal Yanda Smart can play guard and tackle
OL Guy Whimper was being developed by the Giants ready to be a starter
OG Logan Mankins one of the best guards in the NFL
OG Taitusi Lutui-When he is motivated decent road grader, the steelers havent had that at RG for a long time.
OG Max Jean-Giles forced to start due to injuries has not let down
DL Aubrayo Franklin stout nose tackle
DL Richard Seymour very effective player may price himself to high but come back to earth
CB Ashton Youboty 4.39 40 time under the right teaching could be very special in a short time
CB Stanford Routt 4.29 40 time project player but has stepped in at times for the Raiders and held his own.
FS Danieal Manning Backup player the can occasionaly be counted on to start
CB Marlin Jackson good cover corner but has only played tampa two
CB Ellis Hobbs Backup player the can occasionaly be counted on to start
FS Nick Collins 13 interceptions at FS the last two years -PAY THE MAN-
SS Dawan Landry Backup player the can occasionaly be counted on to start
WR Sean Morey (ST)strictly special teams
WR Sinorice Moss (ST)strictly special teams excellent punt returner

Willie Colon
Ryan Clark
Ryan is a good player no one is denying that. But he is terribly inconsistent. And with Troy out it appears as if he has been exposed. He takes bad angles to the football, whiffs on tackles because he is trying to lower the boom and misses.
The coaching staff does not expect him to be a Polamalu clone that would be an insane expectation. But he just does not make plays on the football and that is unexceptable. The defense the Steelers currently run is predicated on pressure, disguise, and turnovers, as well as sure tackling.
Now all of the breakdowns occuring in the secondary are not his fault, but he is responsible to relay the calls. And there has been mass confusion back there. Like asking a construction worker to do brain surgery, probably not the best idea.
He initially signed here for a very modest contract, and he may not be looking for an amount outside the Steelers range. So he could for all intensive purposes return to Pittsburgh.
But one thing the Steelers rarely get caught up in is a bidding war. So if more than one team comes calling they will alow him to leave. I believe they have an excellent shot at Taylor Mays from USC in the draft anyway and in a year he could be special.
Casey Hampton
Casey has been the linchpin of the defensive line throughout his time in Pittsburgh. But he is an impending free agent and simply the Steelers will be unable to afford to retain him. He will end up in Denver/KC/San Diego
All 3-4 defenses looking to anchor the nose position.
The Steelers will be forced to look to the draft for a replacement. There will be a few free agents who play the position but as usual the Steelers have a way of doing business over paying a free agent is not their way.
Another option is to Draft a player and franchise Casey untill he is ready.
Wille Parker
Willie really has never been a consistent ball carrier, he would have runs of 3, 2, -1, then 68. And when he is denied the outside he is rendered useless. He had some special games in the past, but he just does not fit this ball club.
He would be better suited to sign with a team that uses a zone blocking one cut scheme on offense. That would prolong his career. But asking him to smash into people is a mistake.
Also he has seemed to slow down as of late, and shys away from contact on a consistent basis. That attitude needs to be uprooted form this team.
The Steelers need a true change of pace back because the NFL is a two back system and four carries for twelve yards aint gonna cut it.
I would not be surprised if he is severly over paid by someteam looking to make a splash. They wont like the return investment.
He will probably land in Washington
Jeff Reed
Let me preface my analysis with this statement "He is a freekin kicker"
His antics have just been distracting. which has over shadowed a very average two seasons between 08-09/09-10. He has very poor kick off ability, and poor effort on special teams coverage.
Trust me I am not delusional as to expect the kicker to make tackles on special teams coverage. But are you telling me you cant reach out grab a foot, fall infront of the guy to slow him down?
Yes he can kick in Heinz Field, and so will the next guy. He is also reported to be asking for a ridiculous upwards of 10 million in an extension. Not for a freekin kicker. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
Charlie Batch
Carey Davis
He is a good special teams player but have you seen the coverage units this year. But he doesn't offer much in the way of blocking even though he is listed as a full back, He also cannot really carry the ball effectively.
The players reportedly like him as a teamate and thats great. But we need a real fullback here in Pittsburgh. The Steelers third down conversion is horrendous. They were like 3-12 against the freekin Browns.
